Smart Future 2006 Grant Sought for Route 208 Planning Study
The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation, on behalf of the Borough of Fair Lawn and in cooperation with the Borough of Glen Rock, has applied for a $42,500 Grant to fund an in-depth analysis of the best use of Route 208 corridor properties. Both Fair Lawn and Glen Rock are concerned about the long-term viability of these properties, currently zoned light industrial. Some enterprises are closing operations, while others are indicating signs of imminent departure. Grant eligibility includes evaluating underutilized office parks with highway frontage to create a community vision and action strategy in a manner that will complement the existing character of the communities. The Grant will afford an opportunity for the two adjoining communities to work together to proactively address plans to promote beneficial economic growth, community revitalization, improved environmental health and enhanced quality of life.
