Small Business Scavenger Hunt

The Small Business Scavenger Hunt enabled people to submit selfies in front of certain locations and/or send in photographs of receipts in order to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win gift cards and a TV. The goal was to bolster sales for small businesses in Fair Lawn during the month of August as well as spread awareness of historical sites within the Borough

The Facade Improvement Program

The Facade Improvement Program

The facade improvement program works to encourage property owners and businesses to improve the exterior appearances of their buildings and storefronts. In Fair Lawn, the facade improvement program has provided Fair Lawn businesses with up to $10,000 in support to make non-structural changes to their storefronts. The program allows for improvements to signage, painting, and other storefront enhancements.

Organizational Network and Committees

Marketing Committee

The purpose of the Marketing Committee is to help communicate the happenings, events, resources, achievements, and outcomes to businesses, residents, and stakeholder groups throughout the Borough of Fair Lawn. Additionally, the Marketing Committee is also charged with helping direct residents and businesses to the Fair Lawn Marketplace. Residents are encouraged to use the Fair Lawn Marketplace while businesses are encouraged to use and become listed on the Fair Lawn Marketplace. The Marketing Committee also aims to make known happenings of businesses to the greater community.

Membership Committee

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to identify potential new Fair Lawn Main Street, Inc. trustees and volunteers. The committee will engage in activities to recruit potential trustees. In addition to identification and recruitment, the Membership Committee will also vet and evaluate interested candidates for trustee selection.

Historical Committee

The Main Street approach aims to provide a comprehensive revitalization framework that promotes both the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional business districts. The purpose of the Historical Committee is to facilitate the cooperation between preservation stakeholder groups and Fair Lawn Main Street, Inc. as well work to coordinate efforts that combine the ideals of historic preservation, education, and economic enrichment.

Design Committee

The purpose of the Design Committee is to provide insights and informed feedback planning and design guidelines, through working with the Fair Lawn Planning Board, Fair Lawn Zoning Board, and other officials.

Business Development and Partnerships Committee

The purpose of the Business Development Committee is to help Fair Lawn Main Street, Inc. develop meaningful partnerships that will strengthen Fair Lawn’s economic base and enable greater success for the municipality’s small business community. These partnerships include, but are not limited to, the New Jersey Small Business Development Center at Ramapo College, the Bergen County Division of Economic Development, New Jersey Business Action Center, and the New Jersey Business and Industry Association. The committee is also charged with engaging in efforts focused around the attainment and dissemination of resources for small businesses. Resources may include, but are not limited, state and county grants available to small businesses.

Storefront/Facade Improvement Committee

The purpose of the Storefront/Facade Improvement committee is to administer the Fair Lawn Facade Improvement Program. The Facade Improvement Program works to encourage property owners and businesses to improve the exterior appearances of their buildings and storefronts. In Fair Lawn, the facade improvement program has provided Fair Lawn businesses resources and support to make non-structural changes to their storefronts. The program allows for improvements to signage, painting, and other storefront enhancements.
